Description

The speed sensor monitors the bike wheel's rotation to calculate speed. It typically consists of a magnet and a sensor. If the signal from the speed sensor is missing, it may be due to sensor damage or signal issues. This can prevent the bike from accurately detecting speed, limiting the assistance to level 1.

⚠️Triggers of Error Code

The following are possible causes of error code 48:

  • Magnets inside the motor have falling off
  • Abnormal signal from the Hall sensor

1 Connect the bike to HST and perform Sensor Diagnosis

Connect the e-bike to the Hyena Service Tool and employ the Sensor Diagnosis function for inspection.

If the test fails, follow the HST instructions to replace the specified component. If this doesn't fix the issue, proceed to the next step.

(Perform Sensor Diagnosis manually to identify abnormalities in e-bike's torque, speed, or cadence Sensors)

2 Crosscheck the motor

If possible, replace the [Motor] on the problematic e-bike with a well-functioning one from another bike, then reboot for testing. If the error code doesn't appear, replace the [Motor] with a new spare. If this doesn't resolve the issue, proceed to the next step.

3 Replace the Controller

Replace the [Controller] with a new spare, then reboot the e-bike to check if the error code still exists. If this doesn't fix the issue, proceed to the next step.
