Description

During normal motor operation, temperature naturally rises. However, if it becomes excessively high due to prolonged heavy load or motor/controller issues, motor efficiency decreases. Once the protection mechanism is triggered, the system will shut down the controller and motor to prevent safety or usability concerns.

⚠️Triggers of Error Code

The following are possible causes of error code 40:

  • Motor overheating
  • Defective motor
  • Defective controller

1 Move the bike to a Well-ventilated Area

Long press the power button to turn off the e-bike.
Move the e-bike to a well-ventilated area with room temperature to let it recover to the proper system operating temperature for at least 10 minutes.

2 Go for a Test Ride

Turn on the e-bike. Adjust the support level to 3 and go for a brief ride on a flat road to verify the presence of system assistance power output. If it's not functioning or if the error persists, proceed to the next step.

5 Crosscheck the motor

If possible, replace the [Motor] on the problematic e-bike with a well-functioning one from another bike, then reboot for testing. If the error code doesn't appear, replace the [Motor] with a new spare. If this doesn't resolve the issue, proceed to the next step.

6 Replace the Controller
