Description

The detected torque sensor output voltage is too low, indicating a potential issue with the connection between the sensor and the controller, such as damage or disconnection.

⚠️Triggers of Error Code

The following are possible causes of error code 17:

  • Damage or disconnection in the torque sensor cable
  • Damage or disconnection in the controller cable
  • The pins on the torque sensor are bent

1 E-bike remains stationary

Before proceeding with the e-bike inspection, ensure the bike is stationary, and do not sit on the bike, pedal, or apply any force to the pedals.

2 Turn off the e-bike and check the connector between the torque sensor and controller

Long press the power button to turn off the e-bike.

Find the connection cable between [Torque sensor] and [Controller], and check if the cable connector is plugged in properly. If the connection is loose, plug the connector back in tight carefully. When plugging the connectors, ensure the arrow symbols on the two connectors must be aligned.

3 Reboot the e-bike and verify if the error code persists

Reboot the e-bike to check if the error code still exists. If this doesn't fix the issue, proceed to the next step.
(The reason for needing to reboot the e-bike is that the system will detect whether the error code still exists during the reboot.
This allows us to determine whether the troubleshooting mentioned above has successfully resolved the issue.)

4 Check the cable, connectors and pins

Check the cable for damage. Then, unplug the cable connector and examine the connector pins for bends or breakage. If any issues are found, replace the damaged component or extension cable. If both the cable and connector are in good condition, proceed to the next step.

5 Run Sensor Diagnosis on HST

Connect the e-bike to the Hyena Service Tool and perform the Sensor Diagnosis function for inspection. If the test fails, follow the HST instructions to replace the specified component. If this doesn't fix the issue, proceed to the next step.
(Perform Sensor Diagnosis manually to identify abnormalities in e-bike's torque, speed, or cadence Sensors)

6 Replace the Torque Sensor

Replace the [Torque sensor] with a new spare, then reboot the e-bike to check if the error code still exists. If this doesn't fix the issue, proceed to the next step.

Tip: When installing a torque sensor, attention should be paid to its directional orientation.

7 Replace the Controller

Replace the [Controller] with a new spare, then reboot the e-bike to check if the error code still exists. If this doesn't fix the issue, proceed to the next step.
