Dealer Service Tool (DST) - Release V1.7

As of 12/19/2024, v1.7 of the Trek Dealer Service Tool is now available. This update is in response to a new regulation recently passed into law in the state of California, SB 1271, that goes into effect 1/1/2025. SB 1271 redefines eBike classification in a way that would make the Ponto Go! no longer street legal in California. Trek/Electra's response to this new law is to equip retailers with the ability to reduce the Ponto Go!'s max pedal assist speed/eBike classification to "Class 2", keeping these bikes legal in California.

Version 1.7 of the Trek Dealer Service Tool (DST) adds the ability for Trek and Electra retailers to change the Max Pedal Assist speed of Ponto Go! eBikes from 28mph to 20mph. Updating the Ponto Go! to 20mph Max Pedal Assist changes its classification from a Class 2/3 to a Class 2 eBike, thereby making it legal for general use in California.

While v1.7 will be available for all current Trek DST users, only US retailers will see the new Max Pedal Assist Speed dropdown.
