Description

The detected torque sensor output voltage is too high. When the system detects that the torque voltage exceeds 4V for more than 500ms, it indicates that the connection between the sensor and the controller may be broken or damaged.

⚠️Triggers of Error Code

The following is a possible cause of error code 16:

  • Defective torque sensor

1 E-bike remains stationary and turn off the e-bike

Before proceeding with the e-bike inspection, ensure the bike is stationary, and do not sit on the bike, pedal, or apply any force to the pedals.
Long-press the power button to turn off the e-bike.

2 Check the Cable and Connector Pins

Check the cable for damage. Then, unplug the cable connector and examine the connector pins for bends or breakage. If any issues are found, replace the damaged component or extension cable. If both the cable and connector are in good condition, proceed to the next step.

3 Check the Connector between the Torque Sensor and the Controller

Check the cable for damage. Then, unplug the cable connector and examine the connector pins for bends or breakage. If any issues are found, replace the damaged component or extension cable. If both the cable and connector are in good condition, proceed to the next step.

4 Reboot the e-bike

Reboot the e-bike to check if the error code still exists. If this doesn't fix the issue, proceed to the next step.

5 Perform Sensor Diagnosis

Connect the e-bike to the Hyena Service Tool and perform the Sensor Diagnosis function for inspection. If the test fails, follow the HST instructions to replace the specified component. If this doesn't fix the issue, proceed to the next step.
(Perform Sensor Diagnosis manually to identify abnormalities in e-bike's torque, speed, or cadence Sensors)

6 Replace the Torque Sensor

Replace the [Torque Sensor] with a new spare, then reboot the e-bike to check if the error code still exists. If this doesn't fix the issue, proceed to the next step.

7 Replace the Controller

Replace the [Controller] with a new spare, then reboot the e-bike to check if the error code still exists. If this doesn't fix the issue, proceed to the next step.
