Trek Ride Club Route Builder
Plan and create routes with Trek Ride Club Route Builder. Routes are created on the web-based route builder. Once saved, routes can be accessed in Trek Ride Club on trekbikes.com in “My routes” and in your “Routes” folder in the mobile application.
Route Building
To start building your route, go to https://www.trekbikes.com/us/en_US/ride-club/route/list/ and select “Create new route.”
Note: “Import ride from file” option does not save an existing FIT, GPX, or TCX file as a route.

Right Box
Estimated speed and time
- Avg speed can be adjusted to produce an estimated time to complete the route.
- Time is based on the avg speed. The faster the speed, the lower the time.
Cue Sheet
- Turn-by-turn directions that are auto-populated as the route is being built.
Left Box
Click Actions
- Add to route is selected by default. In this mode, the route is extended one click at a time. Each time a click is made in this mode, the Route Builder system automatically adds to the Cue sheet.
- Control point mode allows you to either add or delete control points to the route. Control points constrain the route at the point of placement and allow the user to manipulate an existing route segment.
Routing
- Cycling is the default setting, creating routing and cues that bias towards low-volume, cyclist-friendly options.
- Walking creates a route specific to a walker or hiker. Use caution if selecting in this mode
- Driving should be rarely, if ever, used by cyclists creating a route. Use extreme caution if creating a route in this mode.
Snap to route is selected by default. In this mode, the route will “stick” to the map roads, paths, and infrastructure that users typically follow on a ride. De-selecting this mode allows users to create a route of any shape they want.
Map options help users reference roads, paths, locations, and landmarks while building a route.
- Standard is the default and most common way to build a route.
- Satellite allows you to see landmarks with photographic representation. This mode is occasionally a handy reference while building a route but is not suggested for building an entire route.
Bottom Box
Elevation graph
- Route mileage is auto-generated as the route is being built.
- Route elevation gain is also auto-generated as you build your route.
Map
Your route is made in the Map screen. Your first click will set the start location, and your last click will set your finish location. Both the start and finish locations can be moved into a new place at any time by clicking and dragging those points to a new position on the map.
As you continue to click on the map, the route builds from your last point to your most recent point, choosing lower traffic volume options as the route builds.
Similar to the start and finish points, any waypoint can be adjusted by clicking and dragging it into a new position at any time. As these points are adjusted, a preview of the adjusted route will show up as a dark-colored line.
The video below is a demonstration of route adjustments on the web-based route building tool.
